The Demon Gates (地獄の門) or Dark World Gates connect the Human World to the Dark World.
The gates are constantly active and open, leading to Demons entering the human world. However, they are hidden and not easily accessible.
Application[]
Anchor between Human World and Dark World, links the world and is used to travel between worlds. When a demon gate is found, the demons and outlaws from both sides settle there to bring massive profits.
Locations[]
- Yomihara: A large Gate under Tokyo, controlled by Nomad, connects in the demon realm to Gate City.
- Amidahara: A large gate underground, mentioned but not seen.
- Amahara: Gate of unknown size, located near an island.
- Gosha Village: Inactive/Destroyed gate located in a cave system of the northern mountains. Former location of Narashino Castle.
- Maihime Island: Unknown size and sealed by Ame-no-Uzume.
- Kamimura: Not a normal gate, but a small invisible portal made by the Brain Flayers. Connects to a village and ancient ruin of Cuelebre.
History[]
Though gates existed in some form in the long past, most became inactive. Only as recently as the Peninsula Conflict did multiple of them show up around Japan. After a large explosion in Amidahara, a few large and multiple small portals opened around Japan. Currently, closing the gates seems not to be possible, and the largest gates are located in Yomihara under Japan and in Amidahara. The large Demon Gate in Yomihara is controlled by Nomad and the town on the other side is called Gate City.
The gates were first mentioned in Witch of Steel Annerose but never shown. They were stated to be more stable than a gateway to the Otherworld.

The first image of a gateway is also the only one of it, being a large stone gateway with a blue glow.

Trivia[]
- Unlike the gates to the Otherworld, gateways to the Dark World are more stable. However, Miasma of the Dark World did affect the areas around the towns, they are found in.
- How the gates really look has not been shown yet.
- The gates were first mentioned in Witch of Steel Annerose.
- The Demon Gates stopped working in the Dark Future Timeline.
- It is unknown what opened the gates, but one possibility is the UFS did it unintentionally, as they also researched other dimensions and the Otherworld.
