Shiranui Mizuki (水城 不知火) is a recurring antagonist in Taimanin Yukikaze and Taimanin Yukikaze 2.
She is a retired Taimanin and mother of Yukikaze. Highly respected, with abilities on par with Asagi, she returned to duty for one more mission but disappeared for years in almost all continuities. Only in Action Taimanin did she remain with the Taimanin.
Shiranui's will was broken by the Incubus King, either Kuroi Ryuuji (Visual Novels, TABA) or Kamadeva (RPG). She became the king's loyal assassin, only known as the Phantom Witch and in RPG specifically, she later gained the title of Phantom Lord ( 幻夢卿).
Personality[]
Shiranui was a motherly and doting parent that spoke with a calm voice to her daughter Yukikaze. She acted the same way to the Akiyama siblings, who she treated like her own children. Shiranui has a really peaceful and tranquil attitude.
Having great pride as a Taimanin and a mother, even when faced with strong opponents, she would stay calm and collected. Shiranui had super human mental strength and resistance, considered to be very brave, but claims that she is "out of shape compared to her best days" and hates to be filthy. Shiranui loved her husband but was slightly frustrated that they would not have any physical contact after her daughter's birth. When annoyed or insulted, she would smile, but others could be intimated by her underlining aura.
However, since TY2 and also seen in bad end routes of TY, Shiranui has been broken into a rather lewd and sadistic person. She still acts calm and tranquil but aims to turn her daughter into a slave like herself. Shiranui is absolutely loyal to the Incubus Faction and the Incubus King and, as the OVA showed, would kill her own daughter if ordered to do so but would prefer it if she followed her master's orders. Shiranui can act violently, without changing her friendly smile, and is feared as she can be very twisted.
In Action Taimanin, she remains uncaptured and unbroken in her former motherly self. In RPGX, she exists somewhat in between her corrupted and motherly self. It is clear that she still thinks of her daughter lovingly and views leaving her as her only regret. However, is able to cut off her human ties, when fully turning into a demon. Shiranui voices often that she will be viewed as foolish by Taimanin but believes that true justice can come from the demonic darkness.

She looks surprisingly young for a 34-year-old woman. She has moderate length brown hair with long, unkempt bangs, red eyes and a gigantic bust. Furthermore, she also wears a long, bunny-themed ribbon on her hair.
In her younger years, she wore her hair in lengthy twin-tails that were tied up in a pink ribbon. She also kept longer side-bangs.
When transformed into her Succubus-form, her skin turns blue and her hair growths much longer.

Backstory[]
Shiranui was one of the most powerful Taimanin in Gosha Village in the past, born around the original timeline year 2044. Her strength, even now, is rivaled by the one-year younger Igawa Asagi, that Shiranui mentored multiple times and went on missions with.
As an elite exemplary Taimanin, she was the ideal many tried to become one day and well known for her illusions cast with her Water Art. It is mentioned that Shiranui married exceptionally young, around 14-18, either into or within the Mizuki clan. She loved her husband an expert in Lighting arts, and quickly gave birth in her teens, to her daughter Yukikaze, which was born around 2060.
While, still working as a Taimanin, Shiranui felt guilty leaving Yukikaze alone and reduced her mission work more and more. Her husband would also look after baby Yukikaze around the time, but her mind tended to be elsewhere from that point on. She stopped having physical romance with her husband after this for multiple years, but was a loving mother, living with her family in the Mizuki Mansion. Though, still active and very strong, Shiranui retired for some time and only would act as an advisor for Asagi from time to time.
Depending on unknown canon of RPGX for the Canon Universe, she returned shortly to save Asagi's life multiple times. Shiranui was part of Gosha, when the Fuuma Revolt began and fought against Fuuma Saika specifically, multiple times. Around the time of the Igawa Revolt, she killed the assassin Kono Reima and disarming Igawa Senshu which were after Asagi. Shiranui was instrumental in stopping the revolt leader Hattori Seishu, which tried to keep Shiranui in line by threatening her family, a mistake as Shiranui now took it personally.
Like her husband, she would help to train Yukikaze as a Taimanin but also took care of the Akiyama children as well, being called "Aunty" by Rinko and Taturou. In one of the flashbacks of TY1, Shiranui can be seen training the three young Taimanin, which are able on their own are unable to hit Shiranui, but Shiranui does try to make it clear to them that if they worked together they could even defeat her one day.
Shiranui worked as Asagi's advisor for the next years and would support her specially in the time, when Taimanin and Section Three, started to work closer together and Asagi obtained the title of Taimanin Commander. As one of Asagi's closer allies and veterans, together with Yatsu Kuro, she was one of the older generation which founded the newer Gosha. At some point, as Yukikaze grew older around 13, Shiranui became more active in missions again.
Though the details are unclear at this point, in the year 2073 (in the old canon), she became a target for the Incubus Faction. She was given a secret mission by an unknown political figure in the ruling party (Yazaki Muneichi), which had ties to the Incubus Faction thanks to his brother and uncle.
While on that mission in Yomihara, Shiranui vanished. The disappearance of Shiranui was a shock and great loss to Gosha, which was unable to find any lead for the next few years. How, she was captured can be seen in the OVA as she was attacked by an Unidentified Female Slaver but if this is also true for normal canon is not fully clear. Shiranui was, at that point, given to Yazaki Toshiji (Real) of Under Eden and his brother Yazaki Muneichi a corrupt politician. Both try to break her mind, but Shiranui was exceptionally resistant to the tools available at the time, though after 3 years she started to feel pleasure she still resisted overall strongly. Under Eden, worked in secret to the Incubus Faction of the Incubus King Kuroi Ryuuji, that also had connections to the brother's uncle Washizu Shigeru, which developed new tools to brainwash people like the EVE chip.
Shiranui's husband searched for her but died 4 years later on a mission. One year later, slight evidence emerged that she could be in Yomihara's Under Eden, a trap of Real's brother Yazaki Muneichi, which had a violent exchange with the now active Taimanin Mizuki Yukikaze. As Yukikaze never believed her mother had died and wished to find her, Shiranui was used to lure her in.
Visual Novels[]
The events of TY1 play five years after Shiranui was captured, in the year 2078, Shiranui was constantly trained in those years in Under Eden. Yukikaze, arrived with Rinko in Under Eden as undercover prostitutes but became themselves changed by Body Modification, Magical Contracts and brainwashing, losing control over the situation within the first two weeks of training. The "Put-on Mission" was at this point considered a failure, no matter the ending.
In the bad ending, six to seven, months go by in which Yukikaze and Rinko, turn into true slaves themselves. Shiranui, herself, also breaks at this point, possibly because her daughter is close or because the additional six months were too much. Depending on which version of the bad ending is playing out, Shiranui appears, when Yukikaze is on "stage" with Yazaki, and Akiyama Tatsuro had been captured to witness their acts. Tatsuro attacks, Yazaki and Shiranui stops his wind art. Regardless if Tatsuro after that point is supported by Rinko or not, Shiranui is able to knocks him or both of them out, with Yukikaze fully broken by the revelation that her mother turned and now was calling her a pig slave. Additional content, could be that in the Rinko route, she encountered Rinko a few days before this and pushed her over the edge into slave hood. Alternatively, as a follow-up of the Yukikaze-route bad ending, both Shiranui and Yukikaze become personal slaves of Yazaki and bear his children, Shiranui had a daughter named Hotaru and Yukikaze herself also is pregnant. Shiranui herself also reports all this in online videos, as a last humiliation to Tatsuro, that had been sent back to Gosha as a warning. In the true ending, she does not appear in TY1. However, consequences Yukikaze and Rinko escaping Under Eden are still felt by her afterwards.
Before, the events of Taimanin Yukikaze 2, Shiranui was moved out of Under Eden. As Yazaki Toshiji's constant failure in training for several years and letting Yukikaze escape, was considered too large. Shiranui was transported to Seishu Academy and the Washizu Material research facility, she was trained at this point for one year, under the influence of constant aphrodisiac. Her body had been modified but even with the training of Inui Hideo and Washizu Shigeru. Additional information is given in TABA, which does not contradict the main canon. Though she remained sane, after that year had passed, the Incubus King himself, Kuroi Ryuuji, saw her true value as a weapon. Taking her off the aphrodisiac, allowing her to bathe and have normal non drug filled meals. Shiranui though thankful was even more on edge. Though the Incubus King knew that such things were not even required in his case. Having sex with her, he used his supernatural abilities to copy, her old husband's skills and even genital, to break her mind in pleasure just to increase her beyond human levels, to a point Shiranui was fully losing herself in pleasure. Only in a few days of nonstop, intercourse, did she lose her connection to her human side, it is somewhat hinted that at this point, slight demonization took place as she does now give off a demonic aura or is called Succubus-like. Now, starting in Taimanin Yukikaze 2, Shiranui has become the loyal assassin of the King. Yazaki Muneichi is killed by her daughter, but she remains in Seishu Academy, guarding the research facilities.
Taimanin Yukikaue 2, now plays in the year 2079. When Akiyama Tatsuro and his teacher, Taimanin Kousaka Shizuru, arrive as undercover student and teacher, they find evidence of the Washizu Material research facility and start to investigate the place. Triggering one of the large Animal Drone Spiders, they escape and encounter Shiranui, clothed in a black rubber suit, wearing claws. In her mouth, holding a ball gag, unable to tell who she is, the Taimanin are outclassed by her skills by far. Shizuru is cut by her claw weapon and aphrodisiac poison takes over her body. Letting the two flee, the poison was a cover-up for an EVE chip, that with the help of Nanomachines could enter Shizuru's brain and brainwash her without her knowing.
In the Bad Ending of the Yukikaze route, in which the investigation failed and Yukikaze and Rinko tried to assist also undercover. Yukikaze becomes the next target of Shiranui's poison cut and Eve chip, Shizuru also at that point loyal to the Incubus King, making sure of Yukikaze's corruption is complete. On the last day of the infiltration, Shizuru, Yukikaze and Tatsuro infiltrate the research facility once more, but Tatsuro is knocked to the floor, when they reach the final room. Shizuru reveals herself from her rubber mask and kicks Tatsuro literally when he is down, and asks for Yukikaze's loyalty. She is later mentioned by the side character Morita Kazutoyo, which buys Yukikaze and wants to do the same to Shiranui. Something that Shizuru strongly advices against, as the King's loyal assassin could not be handled by him and trying would result in his death.
In the true ending, the investigation is a success, even after Shiranui's attack. A large Taimanin raid begins on Seishu Academy, a squad out of Yukikaze, Rinko, Tatsuro and the uncorrupted Shizuru is attacking the Washizu Material research facility themselves as the spearhead. The minions of the king are killed and Yukikaze and Rinko are able to shortly, or so it seems, evaporate in a final combo attack. However, Kuroi just appears unharmed with Shiranui next to him, like nothing had happened afterward before the Taimanins. Shiranui, unmoved by reuniting with her daughter, does not converse with Yukikaze and simply escapes with the Incubus King, leaving her shocked daughter behind.
Though, Yukikaze and the others are mentioned in TA3, Shiranui is not, and it is unclear if the matter with her daughter had been resolved or is still pending. For now, this is how events end in the Canon Universe, before a new visual novel is released. As TABA, and normal canon are connected, she is still active in the year 2082 as a loyal servant of the Incubus King and noted to have a strong demonic aura.
Timeline TABA[]
Shares the same dates as the normal canon. It is unknown if she had met Yukikaze in TY2, in this version of events. TABA plays between the years 2082 and 2086, instead of TABA, a few years after TY and TY2.
Shiranui appears in the year 2083, she encountered Koukawa Asuka and Koukawa Oboro, who attack the Incubus King, which tried to strike a deal with Fuuma Danjo of Task Force G. Shiranui acts as one of his bodyguards next to a Doppelganger, and is able to scare away both DSO Taimanins.
As Fuuma Kotaro (TABA) has also a close encounter wth her, he is able to escape thanks to his allies but notices the demonic aura of Shiranui. Like her canon version is portrayed as fairly twisted and evil.
She is mentioned to give an aura similar to a demon, and is known as the Incubus King's assassin and right-hand. In multiple follow up "What If" events, she lets herself be captured by Fuuma Kotaro. Kotaro using a Wraith ability to read the memory of the day Shiranui broke and swore allegiance to the Incubus King. However, the intense feeling at some point and darkness moving into Shiranui, was growing too powerful even as a memory. Kotaro cut the connection, seeing multiple of his men had died from the power of that memory. Shiranui fled afterwards, but would capture Kotaro and kept him in a dream as a toy in another "What If". Making him believe both where parent and son, and additionally lovers. It is also mentioned in TABA, that Shiranui was now a Succubus.
Yukikaze and Shiranui never meet beyond the TY2 encounter, at least within TABA.
Timeline RPGX[]
Universe created after the TABA reset, both Taimanin Yukikaze and Taimanin Yukikaze 2 did not take place. Like all other characters with their origin in the Taimanin Yukikaze series, born later in this universe, around 2048.
Shiranui in this universe is one year older than Asagi, unlike the original timeline in which she is at least 5 years older. Shiranui had married and extremly early, as noted by Asagi, and had already Yukikaze at an age of 16 in the year 2064, was captured in the year 2077, and returned in events around year 2082, in which she would be 34. RPGX itself plays from 2082 and onward, and her transformation into a full Succubus Queen came around the year 2085.
Flashbacks playing when her husband was alive, and she was more active show that the Incubus King Kamadeva and Ishtar, were pursuing Shiranui for a long time. The Incubus King would erode her will, in her dreams for multiple years, without her having a clear memory but a subconscious effect. This Incubus King later is mentioned to be "Kamadeva" instead of, Kuroi Ryuuji from the other canon.
After the death of Igawa Shuzen, year 2070, and around the time of the Koukawa Massacre, year 2073, she served some time as an acting headmaster of Gosha Academy in combination to her advisor posision to Igawa Asagi but because of her daughter would not hold that position very long.
In year 2077, Shiranui went missing, possibly again thanks to Yazaki Muneichi giving a trap mission.
Though probably was not given to Under Eden but the exact details are unclear, as Yazaki Muneichi is mentioned by her. Instead, most of her training was done by Kamedava, which she hated at first. However, with the death of her loved husband, her mind twisted and Shiranui now hoped to bring "justice" from the darkness as a loyal member of Kamadeva. She becomes one of the most trusted members of the King and even joins him in the capital Flame End. Shiranui is now only known as the Phantom Witch and acts as an agent of the Incubus/Succubus, her life was also at some point saved by a loyal member of the Incubus King Ambrose. In early appearances, year 2082, Shiranui looked for a Demon Gate around Gosha Village and was seen by Uehara Shikanosuke, as she used her illusions to create a fake castle. On a beach event, she meets Shikanosuke again but loses her memories, willingly knowing what would happen she restores her memory and loyalty once more.
However, Kamadeva is slowly dying, as the result of giving most of his power to his daughter Lilim, but fears that Flame End, as he calls it a snake den of traitors, would be his daughter's death and allows Lilim and her mother to leave. Still, to make sure that his legacy is kept, he now wishes to make Shiranui the next in line as Queen of the Incubus/Succubus. Though Shiranui agrees and is given the right and full demonic power, somewhere slight regret and hesitation still exist, as she would need to become fully demon and also break all former human ties including her own daughter. Even with Kamadeva's death, this does not change for some time afterward, and she isolates herself in a hideout in Yomihara.
Ishtar also loyal to Kamadeva forms a party opposed to Shiranui and Ambrose forms one in support of her, both sides only make peace after a new enemy in the form of Ereshkigal arrives. In the year 2086, after having a talk with Fuuma Saika, she decides to perform a ritual to unlock her full power. Both Ishtar and Ambrose defend Shiranui, when she is attacked by Ereshkigal Hades Incubus/Succubus, while performing the ritual of the Phantom Lord (Succubus Queen). Shiranui dreams, of her past and talks with a fragment of Kamadeva in her mind, giving up on her human ties she transforms fully into a demon, with the powers of a noble. Killing many of the attacking forces and pushes the rest back.
A few days after, at Flame End, Shiranui is crowned as queen by Beowulf by the authority of the chancellor and currently unclaimed Demon King.
In the year 2087, used her powers in secret, together with Lilim to slightly slow a typhoon, which was about to destroy Japan. This allowed Ayame's Ninja Art to find the Anzu that created it and Mizuki Yukikaze to shoot it, creating an opening for others. Lilim had also asked Ereshkigal as this "slowing down" which required the powers of Kamadeva was risky. However, Ereshkigal refused not caring if Japan was destroyed. Shiranui took her human, form in this but did not speak to Lilim and only displayed a light smile towards her before disappearing.
On new year 2087 to 2088, used a dream jewel long distance to enter the dream of her daughter as a way to communicate. However, the current dream had been already attacked by a Brain Flayer mech, Hairimecha. As a result Shiranui, Mizuki Yukikaze, Fuuma Kotaro, Clear Robel and Crow Child all became stuck in a looping dream, of the group visiting the shrine. Unaware of it being a dream, Kotaro was informed by the mech, that she had lost control and if she would keep going it would result in her own death and everyone pulled into the dream would dream forever. Kotaro able to regain his senses, noticed Shiranui must had been a fictional being created by Yukikaze. While Yukikaze tried to force herself to wake up, a child version of Yukikaze appeared next to Shiranui. This part of Yukikaze's heart that missed her mother, wished to continue the day forever, as she felt lonely and missed her mother. Yukikaze tried to explain the situation but the young Yukikaze refused a direct confrontation with it being a dream and became stubborn. Young Yukikaze continued to play with Shiranui instead and eat sweets. Kotaro suggested a softer approch and the group continued with the day, letting young Yukikaze fly a kite with her mother, a memory Yukikaze had with her father and mother. As they confronted young Yukikaze again, she began to cry, which forced the normal Yukikaze to get angry with herself to grow up. However, she admited she was lonely, which allowed the child and normal version to fuse and the group to awaken. In the waking world, Shiranui was gone and the group took care of the mech but Shiranui awoke in her bed in Flame End, in tears. Ambrose gave her a tea, and told her she looked terrible, with Shiranui wavering if she had made a mistake to push away her daughter, that was crying for her. Shiranui asked Ambrose to go on a walk to clear her head, given that she was the Queen not an issue for Ambrose but she should come back with a souvenir.
Timeline Action[]
In the alternative timeline of Action Taimanin, she has not been kidnapped and is currently an active working Taimanin with Yukikaze. As a result, both Taimanin Yukikaze and Taimanin Yukikaze 2 did not take place.
Joining the Taimanin Task Force, having saved them from an attack by Astaroth. Her connection to the Incubus Faction, seems not to exist.
Her husband still has died one year ago, but the timeline of events is unclear. Shiranui here seems to be still 100% human and supportive.
Additional Material[]
- Shiranui doesn't appear in the 3 episodes of the OVA, even though she is mentioned as the main reason for the mission. However, there is a bonus episode (a few mins) that will show her capture. Which was never shown in game by an unknown slaver woman, somebody non-existent in the games "yet" and has a short training session with orcs in Under Eden.
- Taimanin Shiranui is a follow-up OVA. Shiranui is seen standing, breathing heavily, over the decapitated and dead body of Yukikaze but even after having killed her remained still calm. Kuroi (Incubus King) appears behind her and promises a reward for her loyalty. Afterward, in Under Eden, she is bound in a training room with Real approaching her. Explaining that she just killed a dummy clone, without even knowing. Given a drug to make her blind for a bit, she is given her reward in the form of a "party" to indulge in her lust, with a cameo from Yasuno and others. She enjoys her time and afterward Kuroi, says that the stage is set viewing her ready.
- Appears in manga adaption, follows Rinko's bad ending. Both her and Shiranui try to give Yukikaze the last push into insanity at the end. Additional erotic scenes are also part of this.
- In the light novel, both Rinko and Yukikaze are not fully corrupted. Near the end of the Route, Rinko acts like she has been broken and gets close to Yukikaze and Tatsuro to teleport them away in exchange for her life, as the magical contract will take her limbs. Shiranui appears and knocks out Rinko before she can do so, Shiranui afterward has her way with Tatsuro while Yukikaze is forced to watch. At some point, she injects Tatsuro with an experimental drug, this turns him almost primal, and he impregnates Yukikaze, Rinko and Shiranui over hours. All three start to become broken by Tatsuro, but Real mentions that he will perform an autopsy after he dies, to research that new drug. Yukikaze hears this and, in her daze, awakens to a power which could also be connected to the new life growing inside her. Lighting floods a large area of Yomihara, leading to a blackout, with the lighting destroying the nanobots of the Magical Contract in the body of everybody and kills targeted Zokt and Real. A report is later given to Asagi, which confirms that Shiranui, Yukikaze, Rinko and Tatsuro have disappeared, but a sighting of lighting suggest they are still alive but have become Rogue Taimanin but also free.
- In some of the Drama CDs, Shiranui teams up with her daughter as part of bad end follow-ups.

Main Weapon: Naginata pole-arm
- Ninja Art: "Water Art": Allows her to create water around herself and use it as a weapon or for illusions. Useful in both offense and defense.
- Geneijin: Allows her to mold water skillfully into illusions, in the form of decoys, clones or use it to create weapons directly. Rare ability use, even for skilled water users.
- Area Illusion: She also can cast large scale illusion, within fog or rain. These large scale illusions can even take the form of large castles.
- Bedroom Art: Inki Stream or Climax Diversion, secret Ninja Techniques, allows her to withstand stimulation.
- Naginata master: She is a master with the spear and can beat Rinko with no big troubles in a fight with it.

- Poison Claws: In TY2, she has poison claws which inflict an aphrodisiac effect which can lead to death unless the pleasure isn't satisfied. The poison was only a cover for it to deliver an EVE chip.
- Rubber Suit: She has a rubber suit to conceal herself in TY2. Which makes her immune to Yukikaze's attacks. The suit also comes with a ball gag.

- She is a very good cook, unlike her daughter. Though it is said that her sweets are sometimes too sweet.
- In the RPGX timeline, around the destruction of Koukawa village and after the death of Igawa Shuzen, she served as a de facto headmaster of Gosha.
- While Yazaki Muneichi has not been seen in RPGX, one of the voice lines of Shiranui of her unit does voice her desire to take him on herself for what he did.
- In the true ending of TY1, she does not appear at all. This means the first encounter with her daughter is past the true ending of TY2. It isn't as clear for TABA and RPGX, but Yukikaze considers her still "missing".
- In Action Taimanin she has not been captured, meaning the timeline of that game is very different. The categories rogue and criminal don't apply to the Action version.
- In the bad ending of TY1, she will have a second daughter called Hotaru but this is not canon.
- The longer hair parts of her younger design, is something that Yukikaze tries to imitate with her twin-tails. She also wore clothes in the past that Yuki tries to imitate as well.
- Shiranui is seen in RPGX at a younger age in flashbacks. As young as Yukikaze she still had large breasts and was far taller. While on the opposite end, Yukikaze has been drawn older and still is flat and short.
- The fact that Shiranui has giant breasts might be the reason for Yukikaze's insecurity about her flat chest. Yukikaze wishes to copy Shiranui, but does not have her physical features at all. This also includes her fighting abilities and personality, which are all in contrast.
- Shiranui's Action Taimanin model is like Ingrid taller than she suppose to and taller than Rinko and Oboro, which themselves should be taller than her by 2 centimeters.
- In TABA and RPGX, it is mentioned often that she is a "former human" or that "she is a Succubus now", with RPGX confirming it even with a full transformation. In TABA Fuuma Kotaro also mentions her evil demonic and inhuman aura. "What If" scenes granted her some control over dreams and flashbacks also suggest her transformation, when she gave up and was broken by Kuroi. However, TY2 does only imply it by her cruel actions and since all pawns in TY2, are turned into demons later on. However, since TABA does exist in a timeline 99% shared with normal canon, not including TA3, it still can be assumed she is a Succubus in all timelines, with the only exception being Action Taimanin.
- Her kidnapping was in the year 2077[2] In RPGX. With RPGX itself playing between 2082-2086.
- Also in RPGX. Her younger version, which can be recruited as a "non lore" unit. States that it has been over 10 years, as RPGX plays in 2082 this would mean she is from the year ~2072 or below. This is important, as it also reveals the nightmares that Kamadeva used on her, until her kidnapping in 2077. Meaning she spent, at least, 4 years under the influence of Incubus dreams before being taken for 5–6 years for further training.
- Both Mizuki Shiranui and Oboro, form a supporter formation in Action Taimanin, called "Illusion & Betrayal". Though Shiranui is not demonic in that timeline, it still hints at her state in all other timelines.
- She is one year older than Asagi[3] in RPGX. Though as Canon and TABA are seperated from RPG, the difference is different in the old canon.
- Shares many trades with Mochizuki Chiyome.
- Multiple voicelines of her appear in data of Taimanin GOGO but are unused.
