The Japan (Nippon, 日本国) of the world of Taimanin is a very technologically advanced however, also chaotic place full of the influence of demons. Japan also harbors a few dark/hell cities, corrupted places like Tokyo or Yomihara.
It houses the most still active Demon Gates, in the world and because of that is of high interest for other nations.
Policy[]
Japan, while an independent country, is strongly influenced and controlled by the UFS, the UFS is allowed to deploy troops and research with only a thin veil of supervision of Japan itself. Overall, Japan still follows the same political structures of a democracy, with a Prime Minister at the top of the state. Japan has lost some control of certain cities, which now are abandoned and populated in secret by a demonic population. These cities, which often also have access to an active Demon Gate, which connects it to the Demon Realm, Japan still benefits in trading, researching and stealing, the technology and magic of the demon realm. This resource, is the main reason why both UFS and Chinese Union have a big interest in obtaining Japan but also avoid a direct conflict.
Japan often still benefits from its relation with the UFS the most, with research projects leading to new weapon technology for Japan's GSDF.
To counter the criminal demonic influences, Japan deploys, Taimanin and Onmyoji, Taimanin being the recently unified ninja clans, which are able to use supernatural abilities to fight demons and Onmyoji being the long existing sorcerers, both groups are overlooked by special departments, like Section Three and Section Four.
Technology Preferences[]
Japan falls short when it comes to Cyborg technology, unlike the slim cyborg soldiers of the UFS, Japans cyborgs are often large too large and when it comes to civil use of Prosthesis prefer to get them from the UFS. Researched, obtained by cooperation, lead to the PEX-88 Type Raiden, known as Japan's Alexander and the PEX-00 Type Shusui, these powered Exoskeletons are still outclassed by the competition.
Japan is strongly influenced by the large influx of magic and demonic technology of the demon realm, but lacks enough military use to be a real competition to other nations. GSDF, Internal Affairs Bureau and Section Three all perform different types of research into Taimanin and their abilities.
History[]
In ancient Japan, demonic powers were not as strong and the separated Taimanin Clans and Onmyoji were able to solve most of these conflict and kept them a secret.
Future Japan has become something like a false colony of the UFS, at least that is how the UFS saw it. Forced into many proxy conflicts, that are the result of the fights between UFS and Chinese Union, Japan has become now slightly unstable.
It was involved in both the Taiwan Crisis (30 years ago) and the Peninsula Conflict (10 years ago). Some of their cities like Amidahara have been destroyed and turned into slums, and Demon Gates have started to open after the peninsula conflict. The spread of hell technology in terror organizations, crime syndicates aiming for power in politics and demons themselves created father chaos became too much.
As a result, Japan gave the Taimanin additional funding to form a unified front against these forces, establishing Gosha Village. The call of unification took some time but thanks to Yamamoto Nobushige and Igawa Asagi was a success.

Japan uses multiple investigation departments, agents to fight against crime. Not all are named or numbered, but Section Three is an important one as it also overlooks the Taimanin, and gives out missions.
