Revy (レヴィ) is the female lead of the Black Lagoon series, and her real name is Rebecca Lee. She is a pirate/mercenary for the titular boat, Black Lagoon.
She has a cameo appearance in Taimanin RPGX.
Personality[]
Revy is a troubled, loud, rude, sarcastic, deadly, competitive, short-tempered, cynical, confident and considerably aggressive nihilist (a person who believes that life is meaningless and rejects all religious and moral principles) who also exhibits a wild temperament.
Revy is undiplomatic, believing in the use of brute force and coercion to get her way. Out of all the characters in the series, Revy uses the foulest language and is also a heavy smoker and drinker. Revy is merciless and sadistic, and is more than capable of killing anyone, even unarmed civilians. Despite her merciless nature, she's also capable of being humorous and witty, and she can be quite a talker when she isn't mad. Revy likes kids and can also be very protective of friends and loved once if she has any.
While having worked at a strip bar and not shy about it, her trauma makes any sexual or romantic relationship difficult, as she considered herself as broken.
People presuming to understand what she has been through or how it has affected her is a huge trigger for Revy, causing her to react in a violent rage, suggesting the depth of the bitterness and grief her early life has bred into her. She has a changing but volatile attitude towards Rock, the newest and most outspokenly humane crew member of the Lagoon Company. Although she respects him later in the series, she is at first mostly hostile towards Rock, as she tried to intentionally kill him on at least two occasions and threatened him on countless others. However, she does have a tendency to save Rock from critical situations, and later on, she admits to considering him as family.
She respects Balalaika and calls her "sis". Although most people call her "Revy", she usually addresses herself as Rebecca to elderly people.
In her crossover event, Revy forms a bond with Yukikaze, teasing her about her chest, but also enjoying their shared short-tempered and competitive side. Which made them friends in a short time. She also notes that Fuuma Kotaro's tactics reminds her of somebody at home, "Rock".

Revy is a Chinese-American, slightly tan-skinned woman of approximately moderate height in her mid to late twenties with burgundy hair (brown hair in the manga), She typically keeps her hair in a low loose ponytail, with rather large bangs falling onto her forehead on either side, along with two Shoulder-length side locks framing her face. Her eyes are amber-brown. She has a tribal tattoo that reaches all the way up to her neck on her upper right arm, a medium-sized bust, and she keeps up her physique where she sports a slightly muscular build that she doesn't conceal in the least in spite of her slender build.

Revy was born in New York City, NY.
Few details are known about Revy's past, as what is gathered is from brief flashbacks from both the manga and the anime. Revy was born as Rebecca Lee, a Chinese American, in the poverty-stricken Chinatown district of New York City and raised by an abusive, alcoholic father. One day, after fleeing from one of her father's rampages, she was arrested, beaten, and raped by a corrupt police officer. Upon being returned home following this ordeal, Revy shot and killed her father after he callously asked her for another drink, using a pillow as a make-shift silencer.
There were apparently similar incidents between Revy and the New York Police Department, particularly at the 27th Precinct. Revy has alluded to doing time in prison (in Buffalo Hill where it's mentioned the warden knew her) and it is hinted she is an escaped felon, but it is unknown how she ended up in Roanapur. For some time, she worked in an S&M bar, as a dancer but, likely because of her past trauma, preferred to work as a hired gun.
In Roanapur (Thailand), she became the enforcer and guard of the Lagoon Company. A for-hire service used by various criminal organizations to locate and retrieve or smuggle items. Though she found friends and formed many relationships, Revy still keeps most people at arm's length.
Timeline RPGX[]
Appears in a cameo chapter. Most of her appearance is changed to reflect the future time setting. Revy of this timeline lives in the year 2083 and most of the events of her Manga did happen. At some point, Revy revealed some of her backstory to a reporter, which turned her story into a drama. Which spawned a manga and anime, but her real name was changed. Though Revy states that it undersells how good she is with her guns and dislikes that it was basically made without permission. Most people know the Black Lagoon show, but are not aware it is based on true events.
Revy is sent by Balalaika to cooperate with the Taimanin in an investigation of Kotrara Island. Infiltrating the Pirate Orcs which are rumored to prepare an armed uprising and take out the government. Revy is given a Taimanin costume, that she states is slutty, but since the boss of the Orc Pirates is into Japanese culture and his bar uses Taimanin costumed hostesses, it is a good disguise. Confronting Roberta that had her own reasons for arriving later on, the party learned the orcs were only pawns in a conspiracy of Task Force G. Used as scapegoats, the UFS would gain influence by bringing them down and taking over the island as saviors.
However, Revy and the rest took care of most of the weapons and small "G" forces, including Ares. As the matter came to a close, Revy calls the operation a success and hopes there might be a future one, in which she can show her home.

- Expert with guns: She is also skillful with a wide variety of weapons, ranging from being able to single-handedly fire an M79 grenade launcher while standing on the deck of a moving boat, casually yet effectively firing a PM-63 submachine gun, to wielding a Geopard Anti-Material Rifle against a helicopter gunship. Revy also appears to be very knowledgeable when it comes to weaponry, as she was seen in a rare state of excitement when Dutch handed her the APS underwater rifle.

- Just like Super Sonico she is not owned by Lilith Soft and a pure cameo.
- A meta joke in RPGX between Yukikaze and Revy has them both stating that they are fantastic in infiltration missions, then proceed to agree with each other that it is okay to blow their cover if somebody touched them inappropriately. Fuuma states afterward that they are the worst kind of people teaming up for this kind of job. As both Yukikaze games will always fail if Yukikaze infiltrates and Revy is too short-tempered and tends to blow her cover quick as well. This seems to be very true.
- Within the RPGX canon, Revy might not have the real name Rebecca Lee. As it is stated that most of the names have been changed in the "based on true events" manga.
- Her voice actress, Megumi Toyoguchi, also voices Kamimura Maika in Action Taimanin, who herself has a somewhat similar personality to Revy.
